Animal
Magic! This is the only way to describe the fun and
frolics of both the animals and participants on our
animal therapy programmes.
Lords House Farm has over 300 animals on site, many
of which are rare breeds or unusual looking and
nearly all are suitable to be handled. The list is
quite comprehensive and includes llamas, reindeer,
emus, marmoset monkeys, snakes and parrots amongst
it’s residents.
A number of these animals can be ‘adopted’ to
further support the work of Lords House Farm. Animal
Therapy rivals horse riding for it’s therapeutic
benefits – particularly with autistic children who
find it difficult to communicate on a regular level.
Animals do not judge and don’t care about colour,
creed or designer gear – a kind word and gentle
handling are enough to develop a lasting,
understanding bond.
Animal Therapy takes place over 2 evenings and
various afternoons each week as an alternative to
horse riding and can also be offered during weekdays
on a pre-booked basis. Regular participants can work
towards an individual plan that has accredited
outcomes through the AQA systems or in-house
certification.
